Wearable Technology Moving to Medical
Consumer wearables have grown dramatically over the past decade with the global market reaching over $10 billion annually by some estimates. The COVID-19 crisis has significantly increased the interest in and adoption of medical wearables. These products will require a totally different level of specificity and accuracy than their consumer counterparts.. Their application requires a whole management system tailored to the specific use case. As a result, there will not be a one-size fits all mass market solution and the price points will be much higher We believe that the market for medical wearable technology will dwarf the consumer market but be made of a large number of specific niches. We walk through a handful of examples where wearables are gaining momentum with actionable outputs for the patients and describe our views of the evolution of the technology and market.
